What Does Inquiry Time Do?

The Inquiry Time represents the moment a customer first reaches out to ask about a potential Booking, Event, or Stay. It helps your team track when initial interest was received.

Updated this week

How Inquiry Time Works

When you create a new Booking, the Inquiry Time automatically defaults to the current date and time.
This means the system assumes the inquiry is being recorded in real time unless you choose to modify it.

For example:

  • If a client calls today to request a quote, and you add the booking immediately, the Inquiry Time will reflect today’s date and time.

  • If you received the inquiry yesterday but are just entering it now, you can manually adjust the Inquiry Time to reflect the actual date and time of the initial inquiry.

Why Inquiry Time Is Important

Tracking accurate Inquiry Times helps you measure sales performance and lead conversion metrics. It’s especially useful for:

  • Understanding how quickly inquiries convert into confirmed bookings.

  • Identifying high-volume inquiry periods (e.g., seasonal spikes).

  • Reporting on sales team productivity over specific inquiry time frames.

Reports That Use Inquiry Time

The Inquiry Time field is used across several Event Temple reports:

  • Booking Graph Report – Displays a visual graph of bookings based on selected Inquiry Dates, allowing you to spot trends in inquiry activity.

  • Booking Financials Report – Breaks down financial data for bookings, filtered by when inquiries were received.

  • Booking List Report – Lists all bookings and allows you to filter or sort by Inquiry Date for detailed analysis.

💡 Tip: Use the Booking Graph Report with an “Inquiry Date = This Month” filter to visualize how many inquiries your team received in a given period.

Example Scenario

Let’s say you received an email inquiry on Monday, but didn’t have time to enter it until Tuesday.
When you create the booking, adjust the Inquiry Time to Monday’s date and approximate time.
This keeps your reporting accurate and ensures that your Booking Graph Report correctly reflects Monday’s inquiry volume.

In Summary:
The Inquiry Time is a key tracking field that captures when customer interest begins.
It’s used for reporting, performance tracking, and conversion analysis — helping you better understand your sales cycle from the very first customer touchpoint.
