Error Message: Outlook error: 429

Fix Outlook error 429 in Event Temple—learn what it means and how to quickly resolve it by simply resending the email.

Updated over a week ago

What does this error mean?

Outlook Error 429 typically appears when too many requests are sent to Microsoft in a short period of time. It’s a rate-limiting error from Microsoft, which essentially means Outlook is temporarily blocking new requests to prevent overuse.

This can occasionally happen when syncing your Outlook 365 email with Event Temple.

How do I fix it?

The easiest way to resolve this is to wait a few moments and then try to resend the email.

In most cases, the email will go through on the second attempt once the rate limit has cleared.

Still having trouble?

If the error keeps appearing:

  • Disconnect and reconnect your email in Event Temple under Settings > Email

  • Make sure you’re not using a shared inbox connected by multiple users (this can trigger limits)

  • Contact your IT team to ensure there are no restrictions or throttling rules on your Microsoft account

  • If you’re using an Exchange server or custom provider, ensure your SMTP and IMAP settings are correct
