Cloudbeds has introduced a new module called Groups & Events that replaces their original Groups module. This article explains what the new module is, how it works with Event Temple, and what you need to know before getting started.
What is the Groups & Events module?
Cloudbeds was originally built as a property management system focused on room reservations. The original Groups module was designed to handle room blocks, but had limited support for managing accounts, contacts, and repeat group business over time.
The new Groups & Events module expands on this by introducing a more structured hierarchy: a Profile can have multiple Events, and each Event can have one or more Allotment Blocks. This maps much more closely to how Event Temple is organized, and allows for richer data — including contacts — to sync between the two platforms.
How Event Temple maps to Cloudbeds Groups & Events
Event Temple | Cloudbeds Groups & Events |
Account | Profile |
Booking | Event |
Room Block | Allotment Block |
Account Contacts | Contact Persons on the Profile |
When a booking is synced from Event Temple, a Profile is created from the Account, an Event is created from the Booking, and Allotment Blocks are created from Room Blocks. Any contacts associated with the Account — including the primary contact — are pushed to Cloudbeds as Contact Persons on the Profile.
Enabling the Groups & Events module
The integration defaults to the classic Groups mode for all existing connections. To use the new module, you need to enable it in Event Temple:
Go to Integrations → PMS → Cloudbeds → Edit
Find the Use Cloudbeds Groups & Events Mode toggle
Switch it from No to Yes and save
Important: Only enable this if your property has confirmed they are using the Groups & Events module in Cloudbeds. If you're unsure, check with your Cloudbeds representative before making the change.
What stays the same
The process for checking availability and showing rooms and rates is unchanged
Room blocks still sync as Allotment Blocks
Pickup still syncs from Cloudbeds using the Fetch from PMS button on a booking
Booking statuses work the same way
