Overview
Setup Styles allow you to define how a space can be set up (for example, Classroom or Theatre) and the maximum capacity for each Setup Style. Because a space’s capacity can vary significantly depending on its Setup Style, configuring Setup Styles ensures events always reflect accurate capacity limits and valid space configurations.
By configuring Setup Styles and capacities at the space level, the system helps you:
Prevent overbooking a space
Avoid selecting Setup Styles that a space does not support
Eliminate the need to remember space-specific capacity details
Once configured, these rules are automatically applied when spaces are added to events.
How Setup Styles Work
Each space has a default capacity.
You can add Setup Style–specific capacities to define how many people a space can hold for each Setup Style.
Only the Setup Styles configured for a space will be available when that space is added to an event.
Unsupported Setup Styles will be disabled and cannot be selected.
Set Up Setup Styles and Capacities
Navigate to General Settings → Offerings → Spaces.
Select the space you want to configure.
Enter the default capacity for the space.
Click + Add Capacity.
Select a Setup Style and specify the capacity for that Setup Style.
Repeat this step for each Setup Style the space supports.
Save your changes.
Using Setup Styles in Events
When you add a space to an event, only the Setup Styles configured for that space will be available.
Setup Styles that are not supported by the space will appear greyed out and cannot be selected.
When you change the Setup Style, the maximum capacity for the space automatically updates in the event.
The updated capacity is reflected where you enter or adjust the number of attendees, helping ensure your event does not exceed the space’s allowed capacity for the selected Setup Style.
Example:
If a Ballroom has a maximum capacity of 300 for a Theatre Setup Style and 200 for a Classroom Setup Style, switching between these Setup Styles will automatically update the maximum number of attendees you can enter for the event.
What Happens if the Setup Style Is Not Supported?
If you create an event using a Setup Style before selecting a space, and later choose a space that does not support that Setup Style, you’ll see the following error message:
“This setup style isn’t supported for the selected space. Please choose another setup style or change the space.”
To resolve this, either:
Select a different Setup Style that the space supports, or
Choose a different space that allows the selected Setup Style.
