What Does The Error "Value: Already Exists" Mean?

Answer:

If you receive the error; 'value: already exists,' when trying to edit a Field Setting; there are usually two potential reasons why.

The Value Name you are trying to enter has been Archived.

This can be checked by selecting 'Show Archived' in the settings you are trying to add the value to. If you would like to reinstate the Archived Value, click the 'Unarchive Button' as shown in the image below.

The Value Name Is Used at Other Organisations Within The Chain

You can view all of the Fields Settings used across the Chain by choosing Chain from the dropdown. From here you can see which Values are attributed to each Organization. You can also add/remove these values as needed.

  1. From Settings

  2. Click on Fields and select the section the one you would like to update/edit

  3. Choose Chain from the dropdown in the top right

  4. Click the pencil edit icon on the Value you would like to add/remove Orgs from

  5. Apply to "All Organizations" if you would like it to appear Chain Wide OR you can choose the Organizations by clicking on Organizations

  6. Once you have made the necessary changes click save
