What “Placeholder” Means in Custom Fields
In Event Temple, the Placeholder in a Custom Field defines the example text that appears inside the field before a user enters any data. It serves as a visual guide or prompt, helping users understand what kind of information should be entered.
🪜 Example
If you create a custom field called “Member Number” and set the Placeholder to Enter member ID,
users will see this text inside the field (in light gray) until they type something.
Displayed Field Example:
[ Enter member ID ]
Once the user types in the field, the placeholder text disappears.
📘 Key Points
Placeholders are not saved data — they only display as hints.
They help improve form clarity for staff and guest-facing intake forms.
You can leave the placeholder blank if you don’t need instructions.
The placeholder setting applies to all places where that custom field appears (e.g., bookings, contacts, accounts).
