Revenue Categories classify revenue across your bookings, menus, and packages. They allow you to:
Track income consistently across events and departments
Organize items for reports like Catering Revenue Report or Group Pace Report
Improve financial clarity and decision-making
Common examples: Food, Beverage, AV, Setup, Room Rental, Miscellaneous
Access, Create and manager your Revenue Categories
Go to Settings → Fields → Revenue Categories
Click New Revenue Category
Enter a Value Name (e.g., “Equipment Rental” or “Decor”)
Select a Group (e.g., Food, Beverage, Miscellaneous)
Choose whether it applies to All Organizations or a specific property
Click Save
Each Revenue Category must be linked to one of the hard coded Revenue Groups. To learn more about revenue groups see this article:
Editing and Managing
From the Revenue Categories table, you can:
Archive: Hide categories no longer in use while keeping historical data
Edit: Update the name, group, or assigned organizations
Delete: Permanently remove a category (only if not linked to existing items)
Show Archived: Toggle to view archived categories
When you make changes to a Revenue Category in your Settings (such as modifying its name), any Menu Items connected to it will automatically update. For example, if the Revenue Category "Food" is linked to the Menu Item "Bananas," renaming that category will instantly apply the change to the "Bananas" item as well.
⚠️ Note: Deleting or renaming a category in use can affect historical reporting and may be restricted.
Default Revenue Category
The Default Room Rental Revenue Category defines which category is automatically assigned to space or room rental items. If the Room Rental Revenue Category has not been set, you will see a flag above your Room Blocks on your Bookings, as well as a banner at the top of your Revenue Category settings. Please ensure the correct Revenue Category is assigned.
💡 Tip: Choosing the correct default ensures all space-related revenue is accurately classified in reports.
Why Consistent use of Revenue Categories Matter

Examples of use:
Food & Beverage: Catering items linked to menus/packages
