How Can I Delete a Custom Field?

Custom fields in Event Temple let you collect and track extra information for contacts, accounts, bookings, events, and groups. If a field is no longer needed, you can delete it directly from your Custom Fields settings page.

πŸ”§ Steps to Delete a Custom Field

  1. Go to Settings

    • Event

    • Group

  4. Locate the Custom Field
Find the field you want to delete in the list. You can use the search bar at the top to quickly find it by name.

    • Click the Trash Can (πŸ—‘οΈ) or Delete icon next to the custom field.

    • Confirm the deletion when prompted.

  6. Confirm Changes
Once deleted, the field and its associated data are permanently removed from Event Temple.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Deleting a custom field cannot be undone.

  • All data stored in that field will be permanently erased.

  • If you might need the field again later, consider archiving it instead of deleting.

Additional Information

To protect your data, we don't allow used Custom Fields to be deleted if they have data contained in them. This means if they are filled in on a Booking (archived or not) then the Custom Field contains data. If you attempt to delete a Custom Field that has been used you'll receive the below error:

If the Custom Field has been used, you can choose to archive it instead. Archiving Custom Fields will remain visible in old records where it was used and hidden in cases where it was not in use.

When a Custom Field is deleted or archived in your Settings, it does not automatically remove it from Documents or Email Templets where you have included it as a merge field. You will need to go into those Documents and Email Templates and remove them.
