Overview
If a group has negotiated a resort fee or any other package element (e.g., breakfast included, parking), this needs to be attached to the Opera group block as a package. Event Temple does not currently send package details to Opera as part of the block sync, so this step must be done manually in Opera by the hotel team.
This should be done before the rooming list is processed. Once reservations are created from a rooming list, adding a package to the block will not automatically apply it to existing reservations.
How to add a package to a group block in Opera
In Opera Cloud, open the group block.
Scroll down to the Packages section (visible in the block details view).
Click Add and select the relevant package (e.g., Resort Fee $49.95, Resort Fee $35, Breakfast Included).
Confirm the package details — specifically whether the amount is added to the rate or included in the rate — and save.
Once the package is attached, any reservations created from the rooming list will automatically include it.
Things to check
Package type matters: A package set to "add to rate" will post a charge to every reservation. A package set to "included in rate" absorbs the cost within the agreed group rate. Confirm with the hotel which applies.
Timing: Add the package to the block before importing the rooming list. If you've already created reservations, you'll need to go into Opera and apply the package to each reservation individually, or use Manage Reservations → Apply to All if available.
Who can do this: Adding packages to a block typically requires manager-level access in Opera. Sales coordinators may not have this permission — check with your Director of Sales or Operations if you can't see the Packages section.
