How to Add Event Types

The Event Types page in Event Temple allows organizations to define and manage the different kinds of events they host. This ensures consistency across bookings and helps with accurate reporting, setup coordination, and event organization.

This guide explains how to create, edit, archive, and manage Event Types in your Event Temple account.


Where Event Types Are Located

Access your Event Types here:

Settings → Setup Values → Event Types

This page lists all existing Event Types and provides options to create new ones or manage existing entries.


Creating a New Event Type

  1. Navigate to
    Settings → Setup Values → Event Types

  2. Select New Event Type.

  3. Enter the Event Type Name (e.g., “Dinner”, “General Session”, “Flip”).

  4. (Optional) Select which Organization(s) the type applies to.

    • Multi-property organizations can choose one or all.

  5. Click Save.

Your new Event Type will now be available when creating or editing events.


Editing an Event Type

  1. Find the Event Type you want to update.

  2. Select Edit (pencil icon).

  3. Modify the name or adjust the organization assignment.

  4. Select Save.

Updates take effect immediately for future event creation.


Archiving or Deleting an Event Type

Archive

  • Removes the item from selection menus while keeping historical data intact.

  • Best used when you no longer offer a particular service (e.g., if breakfast is no longer a catered option).

Delete

  • Permanently removes the Event Type and its association.

  • Only recommended if it was created accidentally.

To archive or delete:

  1. Locate the Event Type.

  2. Select Archive or Delete.

  3. Confirm the action.

Use Show Archived to view and restore archived items.

Best Practices

  • Align Event Types with how your team builds BEOs.

  • Avoid overly specific names—keep terms broad and widely applicable.

  • Review your list quarterly to remove unused or outdated items.

  • Ensure Event Types match your catering offerings for accurate consumption reporting.
