What is a Parent and Child Account?
Parent Account: The primary or umbrella organization (e.g., Acme Corporate Headquarters).
Child Account (Sub-Account): A subsidiary, branch, or local division that operates under the main entity (e.g., Acme West Coast Branch).
Linking accounts establishes a clear reporting hierarchy across your organization and allows team members to view associated records under a single main account.
Reporting Tip: To view total revenue or booking history across a Parent Account and all its Child Accounts simultaneously, go to Reports → Account List Report, add the Parent Account filter, and select the umbrella entity.
Setting Up or Changing Parent and Child Accounts
You can set up sub-account relationships when creating a new account or update existing ones at any time.
Option 1: Assigning a Parent Account to an Existing Record
Navigate to Accounts from the left-side menu.
Select the account you wish to set as a Child Account (sub-account).
Click Edit on the Account details panel.
Locate the Parent Account dropdown field.
Search for and select the overarching Parent Account.
Click Save.
Option 2: Linking Child Accounts from the Parent Record
Open the Parent Account summary page.
Scroll to the Child Accounts or Associations section.
Click + Add Child Account (or Link Account).
Select the existing sub-accounts you want to group under this parent.
Click Save.
Removing or Reassigning a Parent Account
If a company restructures or a branch becomes independent:
Open the specific Child Account record.
Click Edit.
Clear the selection in the Parent Account field or select a new parent entity.
Click Save.
Note: Removing a parent-child link does not delete any associated bookings, contacts, or documents linked to either account. It simply decouples the hierarchy view in your system.
